Driver Requirements

Ready to apply to be an Acme driver? To be considered for a driver position, you’ll need to meet the following requirements:

  • At least 21 years old
  • Can read and speak English well enough to converse with the general public and to understand traffic signs and signals.
  • Can determine whether the cargo has been located, distributed and secured properly.
  • Can safely operate a motor vehicle.
  • Meets Subpart E physical qualifications.
  • Has a valid CDL license.
  • Has completed the driver’s road test and issued a certificate for completing the test.

To be considered for an owner-operator position, you’ll need to have at least 1 year of OTR experience within the last 3 years, or 3 years of OTR experience in the last 10 years. All of your equipment must meet DOT requirements as well. Although you’ll need some experience before you can be considered for a position, owner-operators own a great salary when working with Acme.

That being said, there is one important thing all potential drivers need to keep in mind: Acme is rather strict when it comes to hiring new drivers. Because of their stringent requirements, only 40% of drivers who apply will be hired.
