Over the Road Pay

OTR drivers can enjoy no-touch freight. You’ll average 2,500+ miles per week and are paid for loaded and empty miles. Pay is as follows:

Owner Operator Pay

Owner operators take on the burden of running their own business, but they’re paid $1.15 per mile, starting. You’ll average 2,500 miles each week and are paid whether or not the trailer is loaded.

Several locations are hiring owner operators, but you will need to meet the requirements to be considered for this position:

Truck Requirements

  • The truck must not be taller than 13’-6”
  • 5th wheel must not exceed 47.5” in height
  • Ability to haul shipments of 46,000 pounds
  • Ability to haul a 53’ trailer
  • The tractor must be 5 years old or newer

Driver Requirements

In order to drive for Empire Express as an owner operator, all drivers must meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have at least 6 months of verifiable over-the-road experience
  • Hold a valid Class A CDL
  • Must be able to pass the DOT physical exam
  • Must live within the hiring area
  • Must not have more than three moving violations or more than six points on your MVR within the last three years
  • No DUI/DWI or reckless driving violations within the last five years
  • No history of drug or alcohol abuse
  • No more than 2 non-chargeable accidents or one chargeable accident within the last three years
  • Felonies must be at least seven years old
