Local

  • Transport freight in a 200-mile radius.
  • Home daily.
  • More than half of JB Hunt drivers are local.
  • Positions available in Final Mile, Dedicated Contract Services (DCS) and Intermodal fleets.
  • DCS drivers may also operate forklifts and pallet jacks to complete deliveries.
  • Most Final Mile drivers enjoy weekends off and a regular Monday-Friday schedule.
  • Intermodal drivers may transfer freight from rail yards to customer locations.

Regional

  • Transport freight within surrounding states.
  • Usually on the road for 5 or more days; home weekly or bi-weekly.

Over the Road (OTR)

Driver Orientation

JB Hunt has two orientation programs:

Direct to Work

Direct to Work program that allows new drivers to complete their orientation online and from the comfort of home. Screenings can be scheduled based on your personal availability, and you will receive payment once you complete the orientation process.

Traditional Orientation

The company also offers a traditional orientation program at various terminals across the country. The traditional program lasts two to three days and is offered Mondays or Wednesdays.

Orientation Pay

For orientation, drivers are paid either upon completion or in their first week’s pay. The amount paid depends on the type of orientation. JB Hunt offers a one-time advance (at no charge) on orientation pay for your convenience.

Owner-operators and lease purchase drivers are paid on their first week’s settlement.

Required Documents

  • Valid CDL-A or B
  • DOT medical card
  • Two acceptable forms of identification
  • Birth dates and social security numbers of dependents to be covered by your benefits
  • Bank-authorized document or voided check containing your routing number and account number (for direct deposit payroll)
  • Appropriate attire and footwear for the road test
