Pam’s hiring requirements are as follows:

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Have no DUI/DWI in the last five years

Company Drivers

When you work as a company driver, you enjoy generous miles and easy paperwork for easy pay. With Pam, you have the option of working as a dedicated, OTR or team driver.

Dedicated

Approximately half of Pam’s company drivers run dedicated lanes in the Southern, Eastern and Midwestern U.S.

Dedicated routes offer:

  • Weekly home time
  • Guaranteed miles

Dedicated drivers enjoy steady pay and a predictable schedule.

OTR

Pam’s OTR drivers haul freight that is primarily no-touch and drop-and-hook. Drivers also receive layover pay, so they don’t lose any earning potential in the process.

Team

Teams run long-haul assignments, including some of the company’s longest dedicated lanes. Drivers still enjoy regular home time, and Pam will help you find a partner if you don’t have one already.

Owner Operators

Pam also works with owner-operators, providing generous miles and simple settlement sheets for easy pay. Owner operators also enjoy other perks, like:

  • 24/7 Road Rescue
  • Fuel and tire discounts
  • Lease purchase program

Like company drivers, owner operators can choose between the following positions:

  • Dedicated
  • OTR
  • Team

Pam’s official website offers little pay information, but we can gather salary data from 3rd-party pay aggregators, and 2 driver surveys.

According to those stats, drivers at Pam earn:

  • $49,816 per year

One former employee claimed that the company paid $0.35 per mile for solo drivers and $0.44 per mile for team drivers (split between both drivers).

Pam states that many of their rookie drivers can earn around $50,000 per year. That figure is close to the salary data from Indeed.

In addition to base salary, Pam drivers also enjoy great benefits, including:

  • Health and dental insurance
  • Retirement plan with company match

How Much Does Pam Transport Pay for Training?

If you’re a recent grad or still going through training, Pam can help by offering paid tuition assistance. All you have to do is agree to be driver for Pam for a certain length of time, usually a year.

Pam provides up to $7,000 in tuition assistance and paid-on-the-job training.

Drivers who do not have any OTR experience will be paired with a Driver Mentor. Mentors help new drivers learn the ropes and gain the confidence they need to drive on their own.

When working with a mentor, trainees will be paid a day rate. Rookies transition to the traditional CPM pay model the very first day they hit the road on their own.

Working with a Driver Mentor

As part of the Driver Mentor program, you will spend 14 days on the road with an experienced driver learning the ropes in a hands-on environment.

Pam does their best to pair drivers with mentors who have similar lifestyles. For example, you will be asked whether:

  • You are willing to work with an opposite-gender mentor
  • You smoke, and if you’re willing to be paired with someone who does

During your 14-day OTR run, you will review:

  • Driving basics
  • Co-pilot navigation system via Qualcomm
  • The Smith System for safe driving
  • Hours of service rules and how to record status changes on the EOBR
  • Mapping
  • Weigh-in
  • Paper logging
  • Tandem sliding
  • Pre-trip inspections
  • Bills of lading (BOL)
  • Loading/unloading procedures

The money you earn during this training run should cover the cost of meals and any additional expenses you may incur during your run.

After two weeks of intensive, one-on-one training, you should be ready to head out on your own. If so, you’ll head to a Pam terminal to upgrade to an experienced driver.

PAM Terminals are located in:

  • Tontitown, Arkansas
  • Little Rock, Arkansas
  • Irving, Texas
  • North Jackson, Ohio

If necessary, training time can be extended until you have the knowledge and skills to upgrade.

Before you can complete the upgrade process, you must pass a three-part test:

  • Pre-trip inspection
  • Backing up
  • City driving

Next, you’ll take two written tests that will test your knowledge of:

  • HOS
  • Basic truck driving knowledge

Most students are able to complete all of these tests in the first day of their upgrade.

After testing, you will go through two days of orientation, which will go over:

  • National security issues relating to truck driving
  • Hazmat endorsements and procedures
  • The Smith System
  • Your employee benefit package

Once you complete orientation, you are formally upgraded to the position of a Company Driver and will begin earning cents per mile.

Pam Trucking School

If you’re in need of CDL training, Pam can connect you with a school in your area and assist with tuition. Pam guarantees driving jobs upon graduation.
